HOW DO I SUBMIT MY PAPER WORK?You may send your application, certified true copies, and your payment to NCI by mail, or fax. A complete list of required documents, and the schedule of fees are posted on the CIE page. However, Online submittal is not recommended. HOW DO I PAY FOR MY EVALUATION?Payment may be made by Visa, MasterCard, or money order. Personal checks are not accepted. Section 9 of the application covers payment options. CAN SOMEONE OTHER THAN MYSELF PAY FOR MY EVALUATION WITH THEIR CREDIT CARD?If the authorized cardholder is not the applicant, then please have the cardholder submit a credit card authorization form. This is a security precaution designed to protect the cardholder from fraudulent usage. CAN CIVILIANS WITH NO MILITARY EXPERIENCE BE EVALUATED?Yes, even civilians may use this service. Please contact the CIE advisors at 931-431-9700 for details. DO I NEED TO SUBMIT BOTH A 2-1 AND AN ERB?Only one, or the other needs to be submitted. The ERB has replaced the 2-1, but those soldiers who still have 2-1’s may choose to submit that form. WHY DO YOU NEED MY NCOER OR COUNSELING STATEMENTS?An NCOER or counseling statements will give us valuable information to properly evaluate your current skill level within your MOS. WHY DO MY DOCUMENTS HAVE TO BE CERTIFIED?Since you are providing NCI with copies of your documents, we require your chain of command to verify no alterations were made to the documents in the process of making the copies. This is a security procedure to ensure the validity of your training, and the integrity of the credits awarded. HOW MUCH CREDIT WILL I EARN?Until your evaluation has been completed, we ourselves will not know your potential outcome. Every soldier’s training is unique, and must be properly evaluated to award the appropriate credit. The Unofficial CIE can allow you to see what you can earn without committing to the full price of an Official CIE. CAN I GET AN ESTIMATE OF CREDITS BEFORE I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION PACKET?No. Despite having processed thousands of evaluations, we cannot accurately predict the outcome before we evaluate a file. You can review your personal copy of your Army/ACE Registry Transcript System transcript (AARTS) online to see what portions of your training may qualify for credit. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN UNOFFICIAL CIE AND AN OFFICIAL CIE?The Unofficial CIE provides you with results only. A transcript will be produced only with an Official CIE, or when the transcript fee is paid after an Unofficial CIE is processed. Unofficial CIE’s do not produce a transcript. HOW CAN I USE THE CREDITS EARNED WITH A CIE?Most often, transcripts resulting from an Official CIE are used for promotion purposes. They may also be used to show future employers how your training and experience corresponds with civilian college courses. An NCI transcript can also be used to consolidate multiple college transcripts into one. HOW LONG DOES AN EVALUATION TAKE?If properly submitted, both the Unofficial CIE and the Official CIE process in 10 business-days. This does not include weekends, holidays, or mailing time. Incomplete files will not begin processing until all required documentation is received. CAN MY EVALUATION BE PROCESSED FASTER?Premium CIE’s process in 2 business-days. The Premium Fax CIE includes a copy faxed to you before the transcript is mailed. For a complete list of fees, please view the schedule of fees. DO I NEED AN AARTS TRANSCRIPT?An institutional copy of your AARTS, is highly recommended. You may order it at http://aartstranscript.army.mil/. Please have it mailed directly to NCI. Personal copies of the AARTS are not accepted. WHY CAN’T YOU DO THE EVALUATION WITH JUST MY AARTS?The AARTS may not always provide all the information we need to do an in depth evaluation. It does not provide proof of high school/GED. IF I SERVED IN THE MARINES, NAVY OR AIRFORCE, WHAT DO I NEED TO SEND?Marines and Sailors will need to order their Sailor and Marine /ACE Registry Transcript System (SMARTS) transcripts to be sent to NCI. Call 1-877-253-7122/DSN 922-1828, or visit www.navycollege.navy.mil to order. Members of the Air Force may order their Community College of the Air Force, (CCAF) transcript at www.au.af.mil/au/ccaf/transcripts or call (334) 953-2794. I AM NO LONGER IN THE MILITARY. CAN I STILL GET A CIE?Yes, you can. Submit a certified copy of your DD 214, with proof of high school, and official AARTS/SMARTS/CCAF transcripts. Official college transcripts can be submitted as well. Please review our document checklist for more details. DO YOU ACCEPT PERSONAL COPIES OF TRANSCRIPTS?No, only official transcripts may be used for evaluations. Please contact each of your colleges to request transcripts to be sent to NCI. Do this before submitting your packet for evaluation, as they may take several weeks to arrive. HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP MY DOCUMENTS ON FILE?Unofficial evaluations are kept for 1 year. Official evaluations produce transcripts that are kept as permanent files, with the documents purged after six months. Incomplete files that cannot be processed, are purged after one year. HOW DO SEMESTER HOURS CONVERT TO PROMOTION POINTS?Multiply your total semester hours by 1.5. to convert to promotion points. HOW DO I UPDATE MY TRANSCRIPT?To update your previous CIE, you will need to submit a new application, the update fees, and certified true copies of your new training materials. If you are adding college transcripts, please have the official transcripts mailed to NCI prior to your application. WHY DIDN’T I GET CREDIT FOR EVERYTHING I SUBMITTED?Not everything submitted in your packet can earn credit. If we are unable to find American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations, then we are unable to award credit. For a list of non-credit items, review the non-credit items list on the CIE page. WHY CAN’T I GET CREDIT FOR CORRESPONDENCE COURSES?The American Council on Education (ACE) does not have credit recommendations for most correspondence courses. WHY DIDN’T I EARN AS MUCH CREDIT AS MY CO-WORKER, WHO IS IN THE SAME MOS?Every person’s evaluation is highly individualized. The dates, the location, and the types of training can vary widely. Credit recommendations can be different for locations, and dates of training. CAN YOU TRANSFER CREDITS FROM AN UNACCREDITED COLLEGE?Only credits from legitimately accredited institutions can be transferred. If your promotions section will not accept a school for lack of accreditation, then neither will NCI. Note: Always check with your education center to validate the accreditation of any school you wish to attend. The counselors can steer you away from unaccredited schools. CAN I GET A DEGREE WITH MY EVALUATION?Degrees are not automatically awarded. If you have credits that may be use toward our Associates Degree in Aviation Technology, then we will include instructions as to how to complete your degree. At this time, NCI does not offer a General Studies degree. HOW DO I ORDER MORE TRANSCRIPTS?You may obtain and submit a transcript request on this website if you are paying by credit card. If you are paying by money order, print the form and mail it in with your payment. |
